GALAXY and Futuremark announce cooperation on the new 3DMark

Galaxy Microsystems, a leading manufacturer of performance graphics cards, and Futuremark, the renowned system performance testing software company, announced today the release of the new 3DMark, the much anticipated next generation 3D performance testing software. GALAXY is the exclusive sponsor of the Ice Storm demo, the only cross-platform demo of the new 3DMark that provides a unified testing platform for PC, Android and iOS devices.

GALAXY will bundle 3DMark Advanced Edition with selected graphics cards beginning from today. In corporation with Futuremark, GALAXY also announced plans for an overclocking contest for the new 3DMark and is scheduled to kick off next month.

3DMark – the first benchmark for all platforms and devices The new 3DMark for Windows platform includes three whole new demos, from the hardware-friendly Ice Strom demo to the more demanding Fire Strike demo, all showcasing stunning 3D graphics and effects. Unlike previous versions of 3DMark, which is only designed exclusively for PCs, the new 3DMark support a wide range of platforms and devices, including PCs, Notebooks, Windows RT Tablets, Android and iOS devices. It is the first benchmark for measuring and comparing 3D performance across different platforms and devices.

“We designed 3DMark for gamers, overclockers and system builders who want to get the most out of their hardware. 3DMark is a complete PC benchmarking tool kit for those who are serious about performance, “said Oliver Baltuch, president of Futuremark. “And it\'s no longer just for Windows. With 3DMark, you will be able to compare scores with Android, iOS and Windows RT devices too.”

“GALAXY is proud to cooperate with Futuremark on delivering a completely new experience for the next generation 3D performance testing software”, said Alex Lam, CEO of Galaxy Microsystems Ltd. “The new 3DMark is the perfect showcase of how graphics technology has evolved. It is amazing to see the same Ice Storm demo running on a high end gaming desktop, and on a pocket-sized Android tablet, like the 7-inch NVIDIA Tegra 3 powered GALAPAD we have just launched.”
